Abstract

The vampire subculture is the most recent, and most radical, interpretation of the vampire-myth – where people identify themselves as actual and “real” vampires. Starting with their concepts of anthropology and worldview, the article’s aims is to investigate the subculture’s interpretations on death and dying, as well as on ideas of a potential other world. A special focus will therefore lie on their ideas on reincarnation and various conceptions adopted by the vampires from the New Age and neopagan movements. Their key concepts will be analysed and put into a historical framework.
