Abstract

Ina representative, stratified sample of Croatia there were 1165 nurses of secondary and higher education. A total of968 nurses were interviewed.
Attitudes were studied towards patients and collaborators, as well as opinions about one’s own profession and its position is society.
It was found that senior nurses have shown more positive attitudes towards their collaborators, patients as well as towards their own profession than nurses with only secondary education. In some areas the differences are statistically significant.
The psychological profile (N = 883) of nurses has shown that in the sample there are 68.3% of »mildly neurotic« and 5.2% of »markedly neurotic« nurses.
Therefore, in the population of nurses in Croatia, there are healthy nurses or with slight disorders while 600 are markedly neurotic.
