Abstract

In the developed countries sociology has found its place within the systems of scientific information. One has to have an insight in the social aspects of scientific and research activities if he wants to apply the contemporary technology of the diffusion of scientific information. This insight has been obtained through the sociological investigations of the scientific communities. The main topics of this analysis are the investigation of the scientific communications and the research of formal and informal exchange of scientific information. The researches of the formal communications are mostly oriented towards the validations of the “citation networks”, and the investigations of the informal communications are oriented toward the identification of »invisible colleges«. Unfortunately, sociology in Yugoslavia makes only its first steps in this field.
