Abstract

The impact of 11 different essential oils (aniseed, peppermint, bitter orange, rosemary, cinnamon, cumin, pine, sage, thyme, clove and lavender) on the growth of Macrophomina phaseolina mycelium were tested. After three days thyme, peppermint, aniseed, cinnamon and clove essential oils showed significant inhibitory properties, while other essential oils compared to the control had a stimulating effect on mycelial growth. After six days only thyme oil had inhibitory effects, and after nine days none of the essential oils had inhibitory effect.
