Abstract
that scarab beetles named Rose chaffers, which haven’t been considered to be serious pests so far, start to cause serious damages on peach and nectarine fruits during ripening. The fruits are bitten and they lose their market value. There are almost no data in professional literature about the damages that Rose chaffers make. In 2007 and 2008 we were monitoring the population dynamics and damage levels caused by Rose chaffers in the peach and nectarine orchards near Prkos village. It was observed that Rose chaffers appear mostly during the fruit ripening time, when they can cause significant damages on peach and nectarine fruits. We observed the damage levels of up to 8 %. We were using Csalomon® VARb3k attractant traps that can be used for both monitoring their appearance and for fruit protection by the method of mass trapping. The fruit damage estimation and percentage was calculated by our own method.
