Abstract

The method of direct quantitative determination of pesticides after their separation by TLC was applied. Since DDT and its homologues absorb in the ultraviolet region of the spectrum, a mixture of known amounts of pesticides was analysed using the method of the remitted UV radiation. The optimal wavelength for this analysis was determined and the dependence of the area under the recorded curve on the quantity of pesticides established. Because of interferences this method is not applicable for analysis of unknown samples prepared by usual procedures. Therefore a series of coloured reaction was attempted. The remission of spots obtained in this way was recorded. The relationship between remission of light and quantity, the reproducibility, accuracy and sensitivity of these methods are discussed.
