Abstract
The significant decline in olive fruit was observed in Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia in the past decade. Rhynchites cribripennis Desbr. olive curculio, undoubtedly is the cause of the decline of fruit. However, and abiotic factors may be the reason for the reduction of olives yield. The fruit decline is not evenly represented in all olive cultivation areas of or in all soils. In this paper we describe the difference in appearance of weevil infested fruits and fruit fallen due to other factors. According to the other authors who have studied this pest, we recommend the following: abundance of weevil in olive orchards monitored by beating method, monitoring of overwintering stages in soil by digging the soil at a dept to 8cm, all doing for the insecticide application timing.
