Abstract

The authors have carried out tests in motionless and in propelled air lo establish the extent of protection against heat in fabrics which are most often used for work overalls in Yugoslavia. With this aim in view an apparatus which is highly accurate in automatic maintenance of constant temperature was constructed. On the basis of the introduced parameters it is possible to determine precisely the extent of protection against heat of fabrics (absolute and relative) and to make a comparison of their quality according to the international Clo-unit. The greatest heat permeability in motionless and in propelled air was shown by white twill at certain temperatures and at certain speeds of air circulation, while heavy cloth showed the least heat permeability. Reversely, the coefficient of relative maintenance of heat rises from white twill to heavy cloth. The values of these parameters for the other fabrics tested were between the values obtained for white twill and for heavy cloth.
