Abstract

The title of Bagić’s collected poems published in 2006, U polutami predgrađa (On the semi-darkness of the suburb), places the book in a circle of „urban landscape poetry”, suggesting giving up on „translation” into poetry language of theoretical thinking on the rhizomatous letter structure and on the world-text, world-language. The paper problematizes these theses and shows the way in which Krešimir Bagić – despite the title – builds a home and a world out of words and introduces a reader not so much to an extralinguistic space, as to territory and language of suburban stories. Linguistic-spatial constructions (and deconstructions), internal and external landscapes are composed of different, often contradictory elements: real and imaginary, actual and textual.
