The follow-up method and the dynamic criterion used for evaluation of the norms of intelectual ability obtained by the hierarchy method

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to assess by the »California« test of mental maturity, the applicability of orientation norms obtained by the hierarchy method to the personnel selection in a large industrial establishment and to find out in what interval from the arithmetic mean of a certain group an individual (whose individual result is within this interval) would still have a chance to succeed in the activity of the group. The progress in the professional career of an individual and his success in particular stages of this progress over a longer period served as a dynamic criterion. The results have shown that the norms obtained by the hierarchy method are valid on condition that only those are selected for a certain professional activity whose individual results fall within the interval of ± 1,8 SD from the arithmetic mean of the results for this activity.
