Abstract
This paper considers the extent and the manner to which orthography books as normative handbooks indicate the written characteristics of functional styles as usable subsystems. Considering the nature of orthographic formulations (orthographic patterns and rules), we have tried to problematize assertive determination of orthography as types of texts (genres). In terms of orthograpic formulations, we strive to show the position of functional styles, i.e. their specific elements in orthography handbooks.
