Abstract

The problem of access points for AV resources is closely connected with the question of authorship of an audiovisual work because usually several authors are involved in the creation of this kind of work. The paper analyzes the different categories of responsibility with the aim to determine the most significant contribution for the work as a whole. The paper provides an overview of the ways of determining authorship of audiovisual works in the cataloging standards and regulations, as well as some legal solutions in authorship and copyright laws in the European and Anglo-American legislation. Current cataloging practice is illustrated by typical examples from the world and Croatian national and public libraries. The proposed selection of access points is given for fiction, documentary and animated films, and television series as the most common AV resources in public libraries’ collections.
