Abstract
In rats exposed to heat the red blood cells show a greater mechanical fragility and hemolize readity in vitro. A simultaneous stimulation of the erythropoiesis, with normal values in the perifery, is considered as evidence of a greater destruction of erythrocytes in the blood stream. The practical importance of these results for the industrial·hygiene is discussed, because of a possible impairment of erythropoiesis under continuous exposure to heat.
