Abstract

Modern mass media represent a challenge for the mission of the Church in modern society. They put many questions that need to be answered: How to use these media? Can the media appropriately onvey Christian doctrine, rituals, different expressions of faith, and to what extent? The focus of this paper is the logic of contemporary digital images and their anthropological consequences. The paper also deals with a wider issue of the medium of image itself, its importance, place and role it has in Christian anthropology and ontology. After showing the differences between different types of images, the paper concludes with a brief analysis of the question of possible existence of an optimal medium for communicating the Christian faith, and if it does exist, which it would be.
