Abstract
Chronic pancreatitis is commonly accompanied by severe and unrelenting pain. Pain often persists despite numerous medical and surgical approaches. The pathophysiology of pain from chronic pancreatitis is not well defined and is probably multifactorial in origin. We review the criteria used in choosing the best surgical options for the patient with uncontrolled pancreatic pain.
