Abstract

Otorhinolaryngology as a special branch of medicine developed in the second part of the 19th century. In our country it was introduced in 1894 and the first ENT Clinic was opened in 1921. Later on subspecializations developed as in other clinical branches. However, ENT Departments with a small number of specialists should cover whole field. The ENT Department in Osijek needs at least 6-8 specialists, who should perform a threefold function. The lines of such development are discussed.
