Abstract

Held on 3rd February 2017 in the hall of the Library of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, organized by the Institute of Ornithology, the assembly brought together participants of the bird ringing scheme in Croatia. The assembly was attended by 43 participants: bird ringers, employees of the bird ringing centre and governmental institutions in charge of nature/environment protection
and bird ringing. The program of the assembly consisted of 12 oral presentations that were divided into two sessions. The first session of talks presented recent achievements in contemporary ringing projects. The second session consisted of reports on the current state of bird ringing in Croatia and Europe and brought up goals for the future of the bird ringing in Croatia. The assembly was marked
by a solemn acknowledgement to Mirko Šetina – bird ringing veteran with more than 50 years of active ringing.
