Abstract

This work had intention to promote discussion about the treatment of urolithiasis with Zeiss slip knot. Since, January 1, 1993 until December 12, 1994 we introduced Zeiss slip knot in 32 patients age from 21 to 70 years. The strong pain and picture of urinary stoppage by the ultrasound were indications for the treatment. In 29 patients we were able to pass stone and to put slip knot around the urinary stone, however in three patients we were not able to do so. The slip knot were loaded with weight of about 5 dkg. Before above described procedure patients were given spasmoanalgetic, and after introduction of slip knot diuretic and lots of fluid with antibiotics. Procedure were performed in 15 male (47%) and 17 female (53%). The smallest stone is 5 x 4 mm and the biggest is 14 x 12 mm. In the proximal part of ureter we had 11 stones, in medial part 3 and in distal 18 stones. From 29 successfully introduced slip knots, 4 of them slip away without the stone and in 25 patients they slip away together or the stones are urinated. The shortest duration of the elimination was one day and the longest is eleven days. From complications we introduced in one patient transversal position of the stone and in second we moved stone inside the kidney. We didn’t have infections. This method is short, doesn’t need anesthesia, decrease urinary stoppage, decrease intensity and frequency of pain and moreover induce elimination of the stone and finally cost less then other methods.
