Abstract

During homeland war in Požega Hospital 1129 injured were treated. The eighty two of them had abdominal injuries, with average age of 30.5 years. Penetrating abdominal injuries were present in 65% cases, in all of them laparotomy were performed. Surgical procedure was considerable laparotomy in madial line, control of bleeding, and performing most important surgical procedure in the shortest period. We did usually surgical suture of hollow organs, in contrast resection we did only in case of extensive or on a small sequence multiple injuries, then anuspraeter and resection of bowel with drenage and potent antibiotic therapy. The average duration of hospitalization was 13.27 days, and 6 injured persons die (7.3%).
