Abstract

Choosing an optimal static system is the
responsibility of designer. In this paper, a
comparison of the spatial Zollinger system and a
classical timber roof structure is given. Friedrich
Zollinger patents the Zollinger system in 1918.
and its cylinder shape roof allow better space
utilization and optimum load transfer, which will
ultimately result in savings in the required amount
of construction materials. Traditional timber
roofs, widely used, usually have the problem in
joint details, and it is often necessary to increase
the cross-sectional dimension of the elements for
optimum load transfer.
