Abstract

By measuring the corneal curvature of an operated and nonoperated eye of the same patient, the deformity cornea caused by surgery was investigated in 50 patients. The shortest period between the surgery and measuring was three months. Astigmatism of cornea smaller than one diopter was found on the nonoperated eye in 43 (86 %) of cases, and on the operated eye in 14 (28 %) of cases. Astigmatism greater than one diopter was with nanoperated in 7 (14 %) and with operated in 36 (72 %) cases. In 8 (16 %) cases oblique astigmatism was found on nonoperated eye on operated eye in 37 (74 %) patients.
