Abstract

The book ‘Metonymy and Word- Formation. Their Interactions and
Complementation’ authored by Mario Brdar, proposes an original,
insightful and extremely valuable look into the relation between two
linguistic phenomena: metonymy and word formation. By revisiting
the role and, even more importantly, the impact of metonymy on the development of grammar, this work contributes to our understanding of
both metonymy, as well as (its role within) the development of grammatical or, rather, linguistic systems as such.
