Abstract

Chloride sweat test is the gold standard for screening of persons with cystic fibrosis. The method includes the following three
demanding
processes: sweat gland stimulation, sweat collection and chloride measurement. The gold standard for determination
of chloride concentration in the sample is the mercurimetric titration method, and the conductivity method may also be used.
Standardized
determination of chlorides in sweat in all phases and constant co-operation of specialists in clinical and laboratory
medicine will contribute to greater patient safety.
