Abstract
Maritime carriage of nuclear material has been developing for almost half a century and is constantly growing. The dangerous nature of nuclear material and the possibility of nuclear damage occurring during its transport are the main reasons for detailed law regulation of this matter. Several international nuclear law conventions exist, but special attention must be paid to the Convention Relating to Civil Liability in the Field of Maritime Carriage of Nuclear Material adopted in Brussels in 1971, assigning liability exclusively to the operator of the nuclear installation.
