Abstract
Over the 97 years of its existence, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zagreb has conducted education and scientific research in the field of veterinary medicine. In addition, the Faculty conducts activities in many other areas, which attests to the fact that veterinary medicine is an extremely dynamic profession, involved in various forms of activities. The system of quality assurance at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is an integral part of the development of the Faculty, and is a necessary part in achieving the mission and vision of the Faculty. To ensure the quality of teaching and the study programs in general, periodic internal and external inspections are conducted, in particular by AZVO and EAEVE. Other processes that take place at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (scientific research, professional work, international cooperation, administrative management) have been implemented and monitored in accordance with ISO 9001:2008, since 2014. At the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, there are currently five laboratories accredited in accordance with ISO 17025: 2007, which act as official and reference laboratories for Croatia. The guiding principle of the quality systems at the Faculty is to provide excellence in all activities: from the highest quality of education to the latest research, all of which provides comprehensive support for students and staff, but also improves relationships with veterinarians and the wider community. The acceptance of a quality culture by all employees of the Faculty is very important for further development, as well as the transition from a quality assurance system to an integrated and unified total quality system, which will allow continuous improvement of all activities.
