Abstract

The subject of this research are extraordinary events in railway traffic. Consequences of extraordinary events can be death, serious injury, minor injury, material damage, environmental damage, and traffic disturbances. The aim of this paper is to explore the relationship between the volume of production of railway services, the number of executive railway workers and the number of extraordinary events in railway traffic and their consequences. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to a better understanding of the occurrence of extraordinary events in order to comprehensively and effectively approach the management of railway safety. Scientific methods of descriptive statistics and statistical method of correlation analysis were used to find answers to the research questions. The research results are based on secondary data sources. The main finding of this paper indicates that there is a strong negative relationship between the volume of production of railway services and the number of executive railway workers with the number of extraordinary events in railway traffic.
