Abstract

The video game industry has grown into a leading industry within the media industries. The aim of this paper is to analyse the basic trends of total revenue, number of users and marketing revenue. The research and analysis is based on a financial analysis of the global video game industry over the past six years. Financial data is structured according to three basic types of video games. The results of the survey of total revenues are compared with the results of the survey of the trend in the number of users and marketing revenues. The research provides an overview of the current state of the global video game industry and reveals trends in its development.
