Abstract

The existing criterion for determining the optimal shape of a cadastral parcel is defined by the Ordinance on Criteria for Determining Particularly Valuable Arable Land (P1) and Valuable Arable (P2) Agricultural Land. A more detailed evaluation of the parcel shape is possible if other factors that influence it are included in the analysis. In this paper, a regionally specific index of agricultural parcel shape is determined by defining additional factors that describe the shape of agricultural parcel. The rectangular shape was taken as the reference shape, with a side ratio of 1:2, based on which the compactness index, the perforation index and the number of boundary points index were determined. The determined index of agricultural parcel shapes IOBL was tested in the central Pannonian agricultural subregion of the Republic of Croatia, parcels were then divided into 4 classes of shapes. It is concluded that with this index, a large amount of data can be analyzed, and different parcel shapes can be distinguished. Publicly available ARKOD data on agricultural parcels were used for this research and processed in GIS software.
