Minimal Symbol Sizes as the Condition for Map Legibility

Abstract
Minimal symbol sizes on a map are those beyond which a symbol cannot be recognised any more with regard to its shape and size. The paper gives minimal sizes for various geometric, pictorial and alphanumerical symbols on printed maps according to various authors, and results obtained through researches.
