Abstract

An adequate physiotherapy assessment is a prerequisite for the effective recovery of stroke patients. The aim of the research is to determine the frequency of application and the type of tests and measurements performed in neurophysiotherapy. For the purpose of the research, the authors designed a questionnaire on physiotherapy assessment for stroke patients in the Republic of Croatia. The questionnaire contains sociodemographic data and the data on the types of tests and measurements used in clinical practice. The research was conducted via an online survey, on a sample of 110 neurophysiotherapists. The method of the frequency of measurement usage was applied and the percentage of usage was calculated. The results show that 95.5% of the respondents perform a documented physiotherapeutic assessment whereas tests and measurements usage ranges between 7.3% and 67.3%. A statistically significant difference in the usage of measurements was not established between physiotherapy in private and public institutions (p=0.341), but a significant difference was established between bachelors and masters of physiotherapy (p=0.000). Physiotherapists usually keep written documentation of the assessment but do not use tests and measurements sufficiently in the clinical application in the Republic of Croatia.
