Abstract

The Croatian School Museum’s Collection of School Reports comprises some 5500 printed annual reports about the operation of primary and secondary schools between the 18th century and the 21st century. Over three quarters of such reports pertain to schools on the territory of the present-day Republic of Croatia, whereas the rest pertains to schools in neighboring countries. School reports are a unique and insufficiently tapped source for investigating schooling in Croatia. The information provided by them is not only relevant to the respective schools but also helps outline the schooling and educational conditions of an era. Although the contents of such publication were predefined, stereotypical and unified, their information potentials surpass the notion of “dull statistical materials”. In 2013, the Collection of School Reports was included in the Registry of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia.
