Abstract

We reduce the sigma model with noncommutative field space to the quantum mechanical problem of two-dimensional harmonic oscillators with noncommutating coordinates. Then, by means of the Lagrangian formulation of the noncommutative quantum mechanics, we re-derive the finite-temperature partition function of the system derived earlier in the context of the Hamiltonian formulation of the model.
