Abstract

Although it is difficult to recognize the direct impact of national culture on business results, managers need to be aware of the importance of national culture. On the other hand, role clarity is very important to employees, because when information about the roles increases, employees' perceptions of insecurity decreases. Examining the role clarity at work is important because it has been proven that it has a positive effect on attitudes and behavior at work. It has been proven that the undesirable consequences of low role clarity at work have negatively affected the level of performance, and thus the business result. The aim of this paper is to find out whether there is a connection between Hofstede cultural dimensions and the role clarity at work. The research was conducted on secondary data and by using a model of multiple linear regression and correlation analysis, a positive correlation between the distance of power and the role clarity has been found, as well as a positive correlation between short-term time orientation and role clarity. The contribution of this research lies in the possibility to use the characteristics of power distance and short-term time orientation as a tool in strengthening the role clarity of employees at work.
