Torre di Parenzo. The Results of Architectural-Stratigraphic Analyses

Abstract

Excavations at the site of Torre di Parenzo (Poreč), through recording and stratigraphic analysis of the walls, together with field survey of the corresponding territory, has enabled suggesting a local model for the development of the settlement with a transition from a villa to a castrum during the 5th-6th centuries, along with the evolution of one variant of a Roman rustic structure with an atrium system to a fortified medieval nucleus, morphologically related to the new rural inhabitants.
