Abstract

The main goal of this study was to examine the correlation between active engagement
in sports and some aspects of quality of life of persons with disabilities. One of the
goals as well was pointing to the possibility of quality and organized implementation of
free time for persons with disabilities with the purpose of preserving and improving
health, mental and physical condition. Also, the intention was to determine differences
between some of the variables of quality of life regarding the age, gender, level of sport
activity and weekly time spent training. Since one of the many definitions of quality of
life states that it primarely depends on individual person's ability to compensate for the
disadvantages and to take advantage of excellences, this thesis has examined an
individual ability of athletes with disabilities to adapt through sport activities and to
achieve a certain balance between expectations and realizations.
