Abstract

The paper presents load emulation achieved using a synchronous motor with permanent magnets and a Siemens Sinamics S120 frequency converter. The system is controlled by a Siemens Simatic S7-1200 series programmable logic controller, and a graphical interface (HMI) was developed in the Siemens TIA portal software tool with which the load emulation system is controlled and parameterized via a computer. The emulated load is used for testing the electric drive, i.e. its static and dynamic characteristics in the laboratory, bringing the motor to an arbitrary operating point and observing the transient states of an arbitrary (emulated) mechatronic system.
