Abstract
Research of the works of the friar Giuliano Palazzolo of Valle d’Istria to 1974, as both cleric and writer are the subject of this: Domenico Cernecca had written about him in that in that year, almost twenty years earlier, in 1950 (the year of Palazzos passing), Enrico Rosamani composed his contribution. A small contribution to what had been written by the aforementioned scholars is the result of the research conducted in 2010 at the Archive of the General Curia of the Minor Friars in Rome, where this Franciscan spent many years of his life, is published here for the first time. His works analyzed here were written between 1906 and 1932. They consist of two small poems in the Istrovenetian dialect: two celebratory dialogues in verse in the dialect of Valle d’Istria, and a short sketch, also in dialogue, with stanzas in italian, also in in dialect, and a conclusion in macaronic Latin. In all of them, one can discern a moral didactic tone, but also a wittily insightful one, all part of Palazzolo’s personality, a man deeply committed to humanistic culture and a learned Latinist, whose literary production largely remains to be discovered.
