Numerical analysis of the soil consolidation - part II: algorithm and examples for the particular case of 2-D consolidation

Abstract

The paper deals with the verification of the numerical procedure for the solution of the soil consolidation problem. Time integration algorithm and basic features of computer implementation are presented. Test examples cover one-dimensional and two-dimensional consolidation. The soil behaviour is modelled as linear elastic and linear elastic, perfectly plastic medium. Some suggestions for further improvement of the numerical procedure are given in the conclusion.
