Optical properties of lead telluride films

Abstract

Room temperature transmission and reflection measurements over the photon energy range 1.2-3 eV have been made on Pb Te films of different thicknesses. The absorption coefficient is calculated and compared with values obtained for epitaxial single crystal films. The observed structure of reflectivity could be analyzed by comparison with a recent augmented plane wave band structure calculation.
