Abstract

In this paper, the author presents the basic dana of the social situation in Croatia that are relevant from the standpoint of social policy. It is the structure of employees and their salaries, the unemployed, war victims, pensioners and pensions, the social assistance beneficiaries. The result of a survey on the standard of living of the population are also presented. The author analyzes these data and assesses their importance for social development. The conclusion is that the social situation in Croatia is quite difficult and an improvement can be expected only after a new wave of employment and as a result of economic development that will have its effects in the social sphere also.
