Abstract

The paper outlines ongoing research into typological similarities within the language constellation of Italian L1, English L2 and German L3, with the aim of leveraging this constellation for a multilingual approach in teaching German as a foreign language (DaF). The primary aim is to develop an intercomprehension model to enhance receptive multilingual competence. The research is based on a contrastive analysis of the three languages, focusing on the phenomenon of lexical bracketing. It seeks to produce a trilingual grammar of German as a foreign language. Finally, the paper presents an experimental exercise conducted with students of German as a foreign language at the University of Pisa.
