Abstract

The labor-legal (and social-legal) status of seafarers is, in everything, a specific (special) employment relationship, regulated by heteronomous and autonomous legal norms, i.e. regulations with different names, addressees (legislators), universal, regional and national character, different content, adoption procedure, spatial and temporal validity. This paper describes food, accommodation, bedding, comfort and other rights of seafarers as regulated by the Seafarers' Labor Convention (adopted at the General Conference (Assembly) of the International Labor Organization (ILO, ILO, OIT), held on February 23, 2006 and as amended in 2014, 2016, 2018) and the Collective Agreement for Croatian Seafarers on Ships in International Navigation (2023 - 2024) ("Official Gazette" No. 21/2023 of February 22, 2023). All prescribed rights constitute the working conditions of seafarers and the content of safety and health protection at work, as well as the well-being of seafarers.
