Abstract
In this article, written in Grižane chakavian dialect, the author deals with vari ous forms of folk beliefs from the Vinodol region, which reach back into old Croatian history. For centuries people, especially during the winter nights, told stories about good and evil fairies, werewolves and vampires, forest spirits, the stars and various other beliefs which have special powers and influence over people. Apart from the old beliefs connected with supernatural as well as natu ral phenomena of plants and animals, in the article are published 20 or so folk sayings which the author has collected.
