Abstract

Grasshoppers belong to the order Orthoptera and are considered serious pests of agricultural crops. In certain regions of the world, they regularly cause significant damage by threatening food security. Due to its climatic and soil conditions, Herzegovina offers favorable habitats for the development of locust populations. Grasshoppers are a permanent component of the Herzegovinian entomofauna, although population surges are recorded only in certain years. Historical records document several mass outbreaks of locusts in this region, during which substantial damage was inflicted on agricultural production.
