Professional interests: determination, dominant view and new tendencies

Abstract
Professional interests guide the professional development of the individual and determine his/her professional decisions. Holland's (1997) typology of professional interests defines six RIASEC types of professional interests and is the most frequently used framework for vocational guidance. New views of professional choice are appearing – Tracey (2002) defines a spherical model of professional interests, according to which professional interests and prestige are of equal importance in carreer making decisions.
