Questionnaire for measuring stressors and intensity of parental stress

Abstract
In order to overcome shortcomings of some of the questionnaires, Profaca and Arambašić (Profaca, 2002) constructed a new instrument for measuring parental stress - Questionnaire for measuring stressors and intensity of parental stress. All items are concerned with stressors, and their appraisal by the study participants yields data about stress intensity. On the basis of a pilot study and literature, 13 groups of stressors emerged constituting 13 subscales of the Questionnaire for measuring stressors and intensity of parental stress.
Obtained stressors of mothers and fathers of preschool children are in accordance with the process model of parenting as well as with the ecological model of child development. High coefficients of internal reliability for separate subscales and for the questionnaire as a whole show that the new instrument is rather a reliable one. Questionnaire was constructed for parents of preschool children and it was administered to them, but more studies are needed to reach a conclusion about its applicability to other samples.
