Abstract

Chemical accidents and chemical disasters are an inevitable consequence of modern technology and global industrialization. Programmes for risk control, prevention and management are legally adopted and implemented in many developed countries and it is necessary to implement them more effectively in Croatia. Some of the lessons learned from analysis of previous major incidents reported in medical literature as well as recent experiences in dealing with chemical accidents in Croatia are highlighted in this paper.
