Abstract

Premarital courses in the town of Split have been at work for
decades. The author is trying to answer the questions on their
effectiveness, to what extent they meet the requirements of the time,
what might be done to make them more fruit-bearing .At it, he makes
use of survevs, talks, course participants' records, notes from the
archive of the courses1 head-office, as well as his own experience
while repeatedlv participating in them.
Following the efforts of European churches in that field,
especiallv the ways how to avoid ineffectiveness of the courses because of the excessive number of participants, the author, along
with the experience of local churches that have alreadv passed to
other more effective ways of preparations for marriage, strongly
argues in favour of the courses, i.e. continued preparations for
marriage, as early as in the ages of adolescence.
