Abstract

In order to develop and maintain democratic communication within the
Croatian newsrooms I have examined the challenges that employees of media
organizations faces while working. Democracy communication bases are determined
by: the working environment, the degree of relaxation of employees, the degree of
frustration, communication between colleagues, competition, awareness of the
necessity to change the way of communication and the impact of communication
within the base of the media content and fulfill tasks. The work is founded on the basis
of research communications on a small sample of respondents media communicator,
mainly in Istria. Most media communicator has an awareness of how to specifically
develop the democracy of communication within the newsroom. These can be
summarized in four categories: systematic changes in the organization of work, the use
of cultural communication, education at all levels and team building. For the
democratization of communication in Croatian media organizations is important,
therefore, to allow the media communicators cultivate democracy within their work
environment. The proposal is: enable them to individually work on their development.
