Abstract
Nautical tourism is progressing at high rates of development which have, since its appearance, always been positive. Quite often, nautical tourism is identified only with the sea and the coast of the Mediterranean, but that is wrong. Quite on the contrary, nautical tourism is present and highly developed also on the Baltic sea, the Atlantic ocean and on most rivers, lakes and canals in Europe.
Its even further development should be managed in the good interest of the general populace. Each national economy is trying to mold a national model of good practice. In nautical tourism two basic models or development concepts are noticeable . One of them focuses on the site as resource, and the other on activities that deploy to the coast. Both of these two models of development have its advantages and disadvantages. What are the differences? What are the advantages, and what are the disadvantages? What is the genesis of these models? These are the questions to be answered in this article.
